Chris, this was a wonderful post to read, not only because I am very happy to have helped you with your vocals, but mainly because I can feel you in this post. As a person who had an unrealistic deadline for my own release, I know, sometimes this just happens. We don't have multi-million $$ backing us, so I'll say and my Dad would say when I asked for the 5th time "are we there yet?" "We get there when we get there!".
If you can't hurry love, you sure as hell can't hurry art, and if a delayed release means more beauty and quality and growth to your recordings, then I say it's worth it!!

Lots of interesting points you raise here re creativity...I'm the opposite, lyric ideas happen a lot for me, but I'm not a schooled musician (tried learning theory, not much stuck) so often the music and grooves are the hard part. But even with lyrics, usually the idea & 1st verse or two come easily and then I work for the rest...here's a blog post I wrote about a song I'm working on now:http://is.gd/osBMSw -- really demanding because it's telling a true, historical story. But I love challenges!

HAHAHA, I am just a very enthusiastic person, Chris. But I do mean it when I say I see an immense growth for every song you write! And this last one is really my favorite... :D

I am going to cross reference to a post in a different blog and my comment to it. It's about stages of creativity and we all have our different takes on it. Digging up inspiration when it doesn't really strike on its own is a bitch (wait, can I say that in a comment???). Not having time for it when it does suddenly strike is just as bad! So we all have our own ideas on how to get around the every-day-life-clashing-with-inspiration problem...

This blog is written by Adena Atkins one of our mutual friends and is in general about creativity and art. I highly recommend following it, as well as this one!!
